  26. PC PUBLISH - SHAREWARE VERSION
  27. ==============================
  28. This is the shareware version of PC Publish.  You are free to use
  29. this version for 30 days.  If you decide to keep using PC Publish
  30. after the 30 day trial please order the registered version.  Ordering
  31. information, as well as an order form, are included.

  33. Shareware Screen:  There is a brief shareware screen each time you
  34. begin the main PC Publish program PCP.EXE.  In addition, a shareware
  35. screen appears at the conclusion of each compiled publish document.
  36. These shareware screens are not present when you receive the
  37. registered version.

  41. SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS
  42. ===================
  43. PC Publish requires Windows version 3.1 or later (that includes
  44. Windows 95).  A minimum of 386 computer with 4mb of extended memory
  45. is required.  Recommended is at least a 486 with 8mb of memory and a
  46. monitor capable of displaying 256 colors (SVGA).  All the required
  47. windows systems files for PC Publish will be installed into your
  48. windows\system directory.

  53. GETTING STARTED WITH PC PUBLISH
  54. ===============================
  55. To install PC Publish, insert the distribution disk in your floppy
  56. drive and type a:setup (or b:setup) from Windows Run menu.  In
  57. Windows 3.1 this is found in your Program Manager File Menu.  In
  58. Windows 95, click the Start button and then Run.  Once the setup is
  59. started, simply follow the on-screen information.

  61. After installation, choose PC Publish from your Program Group, or
  62. from Programs in the Windows 95 Start Menu.  If you are running
  63. Windows 95 and you are going to continue to use PC Publish frequently
  64. we suggest you move a copy to your Windows desktop for quick access.

  66. All the help and information for PC Publish is available from the
  67. Help menu in PC Publish.

  69. There is one sample document in the TEXT directory under the default
  70. PC Publish directory.  This is named DEMO.TXM.  You can load that
  71. file into PC Publish and even compile it.  As a matter of fact, all
  72. the help files in the shareware version are actually PC Publish files
  73. and can be viewed directly in PC Publish or through the help menu.

  78. LIMITATIONS OF THE SHAREWARE VERSION
  79. ====================================
  80. Other than the Shareware reminder screens, there is very little
  81. difference between the shareware version and the registered version.
  82. The registered version does include several additional supplemental
  83. files which include:

  85.         *  Dozens of background watermark images
  86.         *  Dozens of other helpful publishing images such as
  87.              - bullets
  88.              - arrows
  89.              - small word images designed to be inserted as
  90.                a character.
  91.         *  Several Sound and Movie Files
  92.         *  True Type Font Files
  93.  
  94. And of course, when you order the registered version, you will
  95. receive the very latest version available with any new features or
  96. modifications.

  98. You are not permitted to distribute compiled versions of documents
  99. made with PC Publish.  We have left the compiler features active so
  100. that you may work with them, however all compiled files will have the
  101. shareware window on them.

  104. UNINSTALL
  105. =========
  106.  
  107. This shareware version includes an uninstall feature.  When you
  108. installed PC Publisher, an icon was created in your PC Publish
  109. program group named Uninstall.  To remove PC Publish from your
  110. system, click on this icon.  You will be asked to verify that you
  111. wish to uninstall.  If you click yes, the program files installed by
  112. PC Publish will be removed from your hard drive and the icons deleted
  113. in the program group.

  117. OTHER STUFF
  118. ===========
  119. Do not try to compile the help .txm files.  Well, you could, but they
  120. will not copy the background images correctly.

  122. If you did not install PC Publish in the C:\PCPUB default directory,
  123. the DEMO.TXM file will not compile correctly.  You can change this by
  124. resetting the hyperlinks to whatever directory you installed PC
  125. Publish.

  128. evaluate the PC Publish shareware version.  All of the contact
  129. information is available at the top of this readme file.
